Register GuaranteeAbout Blakeston Plastering & Drylining Ltd, Kettering
Plastering has been our family's business for generations. I started as an apprentice for my Dad, Tony, when I was 16 years old. I enrolled on a 3-year plastering course at Leicester College, where I gained my City & Guilds Advanced Crafts qualifications, as well as my apprenticeship papers (which are endorsed by The Federation of Master Builders).
This period of my education had a profound effect on me and shaped me into the person I am today. The influence of my Dad and the plastering team at Leicester College instilled in me the traditions of old school plastering, which have enabled me to work on a wide variety of interesting buildings, which range from schools, to hospitals, Government buildings, military facilities, shopping centres, historical houses and stately homes.
I was also fortunate to gain 18 months of experience plastering in Germany after completing my apprenticeship. This is where I added another string to my bow, learning machine plastering.
Plastering has changed during the 28 years I've been in the industry and I've always been pro-active in moving with the times and updating my skills. This led me into drylining work, which is popular now due to the need for faster drying times and better insulation qualities (in most cases).
In recent years, I've been sub-contracting on housing developments throughout the UK. I get a lot of satisfaction working on domestic properties as well, where my policy is "no job too small". I'm based in Northamptonshire and work locally, as well as providing a nationwide service.
I can offer most plastering services, including:
- Plastering & Screeding
- Removing & Replacing Damaged Ceilings
- Plastering Over Artex
- Dot & Dab
- Dry Wall Tape & Jointing
- Dry Lining
- Rendering (Interior & Exterior)
