    "Had a very negative experience with Dan Conway who looked at my boiler with a view to fixing an intermittent hot to cold water issue. The heating worked fine. After 45 mins, I felt he didn't know what he was doing - at £90 an hour I decided to cut my losses so i asked him to leave it before it cost me even more. As he left, Dan said there was no charge which I thought was odd but fair as he didn't seem to do anything so no money actually changed hands. When I checked the boiler I was horrified to discover quite a bad water leak from underneath it going all over the wooden floor below, the pressure valve gushed water all over the floor when I tried to top it up and the heating now doesn't work at all when it did before he started on it. Due to my experience I would not recommend."

    Trader reply: "As requested, I attended to inspect the boiler. I explained that I am Gas Safe registered and can carry out gas safety work, but I was happy to have a brief look at the issue. Upon inspection, I found that the boiler pressure had dropped to below 1 bar. I re-pressurised the system using the filling key located on top of the boiler. I also checked the external controls, which appeared to be functioning correctly. The boiler was heating up to 70°C and then cutting off. I advised the customer that the plate-to-plate heat exchanger likely requires cleaning and that the diverter valve may also be faulty. The customer mentioned that he has been experiencing ongoing issues with the boiler and is considering obtaining quotes for a replacement. He also asked whether the boiler was still leaking; at the time of my inspection, I could not see any visible leaks. The system began leaking again after the pressure was topped up, which can occur in such situations. I did not damage the filling loop. The filling key must be properly inserted to allow the system to be pressurised; otherwise, water will discharge. This is the normal operation of that type of filling mechanism."

    "Great impression as soon as he walked in the door. He was right on time which is always a great sign these days. The job of changing a bath mixer tap sounds easy and straightforward but this was anything but. Access was extremely restricted making the job very difficult. He also made short work of an airlock. Cleaned up afterwards too. I will definitely use him again."
