About Alix Whatley Painters & Decorators, London

About Us

I am a sole trader and specialist interior decorator with over 25 years' experience.
My business is built on trust, reliability and clear, honest advice.
I place particular emphasis on meticulous preparation, using the latest FESTOOL sanders and dust-extraction systems to minimise fine dust, reduce disruption and ensure a high-quality, long‑lasting finish.
I am fully insured, offer long guarantees on all work and welcome insurance projects.
I provide a highly personable service, remain on-site every day to update you on progress and offer free estimates.

Summary

Preparation:
All surfaces are cleaned, sanded and checked for imperfections, movement cracks followed by a stabilzing soulution and filled with the appropiate flexible/wood fillers.
Once the initial first stage preparations are completed, a Trade white emulsion for ceilings and walls / Trade white primer for all woodwork is applied to cover all preparation, fillers and caulking also as a block coat over existing colours.
A final detailed filling/caulking check on all surfaces prior to final coats being applied.

Application

Woodwork:
Two coats of undecoat followed by two coats of Satin/Eggshell or gloss finah.

Ceilings and walls:
Two coats of emulsion if using a flatt matt finish, three coats if using a wipable/mid sheen/modern emulsion finish.
