Trusted Electricians Raise Funds For Charity

Anyone who knows Trust A Trader knows that we care about our community. We love hearing stories of our traders embracing community spirit or raising funds for charity. So we want to give a big shout out to Teescroft Electrical Services for raising valuable funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, in a very unique fashion!

Headed by electrician and director, Mark Williams, Teescroft Electrical provides reliable electrical contractor services to domestic customers in and around Reading. Mark himself has more than 20 years’ experience as an electrician and, since he established Teescroft Electrical 13 years ago, the company has gone from strength to strength. The business became a limited company 3 years ago, continuing to grow in capacity as it provides top-notch electrical services to clients.

The Burghfield Box Kart Bash is an annual event held by the community-spirited folk of Burghfield, West Berkshire. Previously, Teescroft Electrical have sponsored a kart and helped to raise precious funds for local and national charities including Cancer Research, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and Thames Valley Air Ambulance. This year, they couldn’t resist having a go themselves and built The Sparkies, a sleek-looking kart that looked ready to take on The Hill of Death with Stuart “no fear” Lugger at the wheel.

This event may look like fun, but secretly everyone knows that it is deeply competitive. And as newcomers, it was difficult for the team to know how The Sparkies (and Stuart) would fare, particularly as they didn’t manage a test run beforehand. However, armed with the support of his colleagues and around 2,000 spectators, plus the knowledge that they were raising money for such a worthy cause, Stuart stepped into the breach and pulled it out of the bag, coming in a very close second out of 19 karts. He finished just 0.35 seconds behind the victorious team.

The team are elated and (possibly) already planning on how they can improve upon their time for next year. However the most important thing is that they have, to date, raised well over £1,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust, an organisation which provides support and specialist care to young people with cancer.

If you want to support The Sparkies, it’s not too late! Simply follow this link to donate via JustGiving. In the meantime, if you live in or around Reading and you need an electrician you can trust, you know who to call.
