"The trader quoted me £400 to fix a leak around my chimney he said it was a couple of broken tiles and ridge tiles rebedding he did the job, next time it rained it leaked, he came back said he had now found a hole which he repaired, it rained again the roof leaked, he came back, this time put repair tape on the flashing charging me another £300 and said any more problems then I need a cowl on the chimney. It rained it leaked he put a cowl on another £58 and it's still leaking. I have had another trader up to look and the flashing needs replacing. I would not recommend"

Trader reply: "All work carried out was completed to a high professional standard. I acted promptly and responsibly throughout, returning to the property multiple times in an effort to identify and resolve the issue. I feel that I have demonstrated good faith by carrying out additional repairs at no charge. I was contacted by the customer regarding a leak around the chimney stack. I attended the property to inspect the issue and identified three broken tiles around the ridge as the cause. I provided a quotation for the repair, which the customer accepted. Later that evening, the customer informed me that another roofer had visited and advised that the entire roof would need to be replaced. I reassured the customer that, based on my inspection, a full roof replacement was not necessary and that the issue could be resolved with repairs. The following day, I carried out the agreed repair to the broken tiles. Subsequently, the customer contacted me to report that the leak was continuing. I attended the property immediately to reassess the issue and found that the chimney flaunching was cracked, which could allow water ingress. I provided a quotation to re-flaunch the chimney, which the customer accepted, and I completed the work. I later received another call stating that the leak persisted. I again attended the property as soon as I was available and discovered a small hole that I had previously missed. I informed the customer of this, repaired it at no charge, and apologised for the oversight. I then received a further call claiming the property was still leaking. When I attended the property on this occasion, I was denied access to the loft, which prevented me from fully investigating the reported issue. It should be noted that there had been prolonged and heavy rainfall over several days, which can cause chimney brickwork to remain saturated and may give the appearance of ongoing leakage even after repairs have been completed."
