- When the kitchen cupboard was installed, it was not worth calling an electrician (not my words). The cupboard was fitted over the kitchen switch, which got damaged in the process. It was left like this!
-
Image
21
- Switches should be installed to enable access for ongoing inspection and testing. The kitchen fitter didn’t get the memo.
-
Image
22
- Sockets installed at low level on skirting boards, might have saved time and copper, but the result is damaged and potentially dangerous plug tops, where the flex is forced to fit, often damaging the internal conductors.

- When you want enough light to see your next step, without illuminating the entire neighbourhood? The right lighting choices can enhance rather than overpower.
-
Image
24
- Ventilation is increasingly an issue to prevent mould and associated issues. Sometimes, it is not as easy as drilling a core hole through the wall. Roof vents provide an excellent alternative on terraced properties without a suitable external wall, or with inline fans installed in the loft.
-
Image
25
- It’s old, but is it safe? Few older properties have the latest distribution equipment, which is why thorough testing is conducted to see if the installation still performs and achieves the disconnection times for which it was designed. Although we’d be looking to improve the cable entry in the fused connection unit below!
