"OMP building services took a £720 deposit to do an emergency call out to board up and then to replace a window for us, total quote was £3,600. However, they did not come out in an emergency, instead they came much later to the site than agreed. I feel their attitude towards the job changed once they had secured a deposit. Then on visiting the site they explained that the window could not be boarded up and simply swept up the glass instead. As they did not fulfil the quoted work we asked for our money to be returned minus the cost of sweeping up some glass however, OMP Building services are refusing to refund us anything at all. This building company has taken advantage of our situation and the fact they took money off us upfront on a trust basis, I highly recommend you step carefully with this company after having a bad experience on how they deal with complaints and service issues."

Trader reply: "Our priority is always to ensure customer satisfaction and to provide services safely and transparently. We were contacted on 20 April regarding a window replacement at a commercial property following reported damage. We advised that, while we could complete the work, we are not an emergency supplier and lead time would be required for glass fabrication. A quotation was issued that evening based on photographs provided, and a deposit was received at 8:15pm the same day. On 21 April at approximately 3:30pm, two operatives attended site. They were shown video evidence indicating the damage was caused by a passing lorry, not intentional impact as initially described. Inspection confirmed the second pane remained intact and the frame was metal. Our operatives advised that boarding the window was not safe or feasible due to insufficient fixing surface and the risk of damaging the frame or remaining pane. The client accepted this. The team made the area safe, removed broken glass, and took measurements for replacement. Several days later, we received an email requesting a full refund. We responded promptly, reiterating the safety concerns and confirming we would cancel the glass order without further charges. However, we explained that labour, waste removal, and administrative costs had already been incurred and time has been spent drawing up the window dimensions for our suppliers, and under our terms, the deposit was non-refundable to that extent. Later the same day, the client contacted us to apologise for a misunderstanding and requested reinstatement of the order. We advised this would be reviewed internally. Following a review, we declined to proceed due to the risk of further changes and potential financial exposure should materials be ordered and the instruction withdrawn again. We confirmed this in writing. Given the volume and nature of subsequent emails and messages received, we informed the client that we would no longer engage in direct communication. We advised that any further action should be pursued through formal legal channels, with which we will fully cooperate."
