"Unfortunately, what started positively has ended up being a really disappointing experience. We have been given numerous days when we were told he would be coming to continue/finish the work, only for him not to turn up. This has meant repeatedly waiting in and taking time off work unnecessarily. We’ve also been told he would call us back, but the call never comes. The job has now gone well beyond the expected completion date and there is still work outstanding. We’ve tried to be patient and understanding, but after weeks of chasing and repeated promises that haven’t been followed through, it has become extremely frustrating. I don’t expect everything to run perfectly on a building job and delays can happen, but I do expect communication. If you can’t attend on a day you’ve arranged, a simple phone call or message to let the customer know should be the minimum. It’s a shame because there are aspects of the work we are pleased with, but it still remained unfinished."

Trader reply: "We are surprised and disappointed to receive this review, however, we do need to clarify the situation from our side. The work originally quoted and paid for has been completed. The issue is that throughout the job, additional works have continually been requested that were not included in the original quotation. For example, the original specification was for 13 slats high fence, but this has increased to 26 slats high, along with requests such as removing small trees/shrubs and other additional works. We have been willing to accommodate these requests, but additional work has a cost. To date, completed work that remains unpaid amounts to £1,100, while further work continued to be requested. We appreciate that communication could have been better, but payment is also required for additional work completed. As the scope has continually increased beyond the original agreement, with payment outstanding, we have had no option but to walk away and undertake no further work. It is unfortunate, but the original paid-for work, and more, has been completed."
