"Very poor experience. I was quoted to remove an old gas hob, install a new one, and issue gas safety paperwork. The engineer knew in advance that the new hob was slightly larger and that the worktop might need cutting. After installation, the hob was loose and clearly not properly fitted. After repeated messages and cancelled visits, he eventually returned and accepted there was a problem. He offered to seal it with silicone or return to install it properly. We agreed a date for proper installation. The day before, he said he would now charge extra to finish the job and suggested I might need to hire a joiner, despite the work not being complete. When I queried this, he became argumentative and refused to return. In addition, the old hob was not disposed of (I was told to take it to the dump myself) and no gas safety paperwork was issued. I paid a significant fee for incomplete and unsatisfactory work. Unprofessional, unreliable, and hostile when challenged."
Trader reply: "We’re sorry you feel dissatisfied. The quotation accepted was for removal and replacement of the gas hob and associated gas safety checks, which were completed safely and in compliance with regulations. Additional worktop alterations were outside the agreed scope; however, extra cutting was carried out in good faith at no additional charge. A practical solution was offered at the time but declined. We always aim to act fairly and professionally and stand by the work completed."
