Amy - Image 1 "The trader has just finished and we are so disappointed. None of the brand new wood (skirting, window sills, architraves) have been prepped and primed, he just painted the colour straight on, the walls haven’t been sanded down or filled and he didn’t mist coat his own fresh plaster! I’m now having to remove the flakey paint. The trader was polite and tidy, his coving installation was fine and we have no complaints about that but the decorating has created many issues that are going to be expensive and lengthy to repair. The original quote agreed increased by £420 over night (for materials-coving adhesive and a small amount of MDF) We stupidly paid him but on closer inspection, we should have refused given the quality of work and significant issues this has created. He offered to return to repair but the trust is gone- how can we trust someone who doesn’t mist coat the walls they freshly plastered. I would not recommend."

Trader reply: "We would like to take the opportunity to respond to the points you raised in your recent review. We are sorry that you feel your experience did not meet your expectations. We set high standards for ourselves and always aim to meet customer expectations. As you can see from previous reviews, all of our customers have been happy with the work completed and we have a rating of 4.97 out of 5 with countless positive comments (106 reviews over 9 years) so yours is the first negative response we have had. The first point you raise is that you are disappointed with the work. On completion of the work, we walked around the rooms with you and you said you were happy with everything. In response to your comment about the price increasing ‘overnight’ – the original quote was for coving fitting and for decorating two rooms which we have in writing, and then once the job had started you asked for additional works to be completed; which was building the structure for the wardrobes and skirting fitting in one and half rooms. There was an extra cost for materials purchased and then there was an additional approximately one and half day’s extra labour you requested so £420 was actually very reasonable. When you contacted us to say you were unhappy with the completed work, we responded to your message and said we were happy to come out and look at any issues and find a way of resolving them. You said you weren’t happy to do this and you requested some refund without giving me a chance to have a look, in the end, as a gesture of goodwill, we refunded you £700. At no point did you send me photos of the specific issues you were unhappy with. The only photo you provided was one where you had already started to sand the wall down, so it is not clear how it looked after the work was completed. We honestly don’t know what more we could have done. You wouldn’t give us the opportunity to come and see how we could make things right. Kind Regards GO Plastering Service"
