    "The initial Impression was good. Despite a week-long delay, it took off relatively well. The workers were polite and shared some photos to explain what was done on the day. Punctuality and communication were inadequate. On some days workers showed up unannounced and on some days they just didn't show up. The whole thing was delayed by a few weeks I believe. In terms of cleanliness, we've asked not to leave their stuff next to the bins but they did. On the bin collection day, we had to move all their stuff to get our bins out. Also on other occasions, they had to borrow our tools (a bucket and a spade) as they forgot to bring them. They didn't return to us and just left them outside when they finished. I cannot tell the job quality because no report or photos were provided when the job was finished. But I do hope the job was done to a high standard. In terms of the value, it was not the cheapest quote, but we appreciated their immediate availability and their proposal. Overall Opinion: I chose this company based on our friends' recommendation and I was hoping that it would be a stress-free experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a rather stressful experience. We had a quick look on the roof and there was an area where the water was pooling. So they arranged a final inspection last week but no one showed up. When I emailed them, I received a rather unprofessional reply saying that the inspection was not needed and they would look forward to the invoice payment. We did settle the invoice a few days prior to that email correspondence so I don't understand why I get a reply from them like that. Unless they improve their communication and customer service, I would not recommend them."

    Trader reply: "Thank you for your feedback as its very important to us. We value your comments as customer service is our priority. We are sorry you are unhappy with the works but we have communicated with you as much as we can, emailing yourself or your partner to let you know when we will be there or not as the case may be depending on the weather. We have provided photos of the work to you, before and after, and once you advised us that there was rubbish left next to the bins, we returned to move it of which I checked on our vehicle trackers. Had you of advised us before we left your property we would of certainly moved it before leaving. As you are aware we had to subcontract part of our work out for reasons explained to you and they were the guys that asked you for a bucket and spade not us, for which I can only apologise. I certainly will be passing this message onto them for future jobs, they left these on your property for you when they finished for the day, they did not take them with then. As explained above we have provided photos to you of before and after so I am unsure what you are referring to saying that you do not know the quality of the work as you haven’t seen any photos? The work has been done to a high standard as you can see in the photos, I am not sure whether you are thinking of another roofing company as we were not available straight away as you mentioned ‘immediate availability’ as we are a very busy company with lots of people waiting for their roof to be done and fitted you in as soon as we could, you accepted your quote on the 6/10/21 and we carried out the works by the 10/11/21. We have advised you that pooling on a roof does not have any detrimental effect and as we are sent photos of completed work by our roofers every day there was no need for an inspection as we had already taken a look at these. We certainly take our customer comments very seriously and also strive to get better in any way we can, but we have communicated with you the best we can, especially in these difficult times when every company is operating differently and the best they can, trying to keep their business going with staff shortages due to Covid or other reasons.     "Very poor. 2 week's work turned into 2 months and counting. The company blames it on velux window shortage but other work (lead flashing renewal, slate renewal) was left hanging too. No effort to protect my property from water ingress. Now we have water damage on our newly renovated property. poor communication - no pick up of call nor return calls when problem arises. Charges - try to charge us full amount against their terms and condition before work complete. Try to charge us extra for bringing forward work in scope while waiting for the delayed velux window."

    Trader reply: "Thank you for your feedback as its very important to us. We value your comments as customer service is our priority. To clarify we have been in contact with you ever since we took on the job in June 2021 and have kept in contact with some 9 emails over the course of the last 2 months updating you on what is happening every step of the way. We are sorry you are unhappy that the work has not been completed yet, but you are fully aware from the emails sent to you directly from Velux that there is a problem with global availability of raw materials of which the entire industry is experiencing, which is totally out of our control as explained to you, and we have been following up on this for you at every opportunity. We attended the property to carry out the lower section of the roofing work separate to where the Velux work was required due to the fact of the delay with the Velux, we also advised you why we have only completed this part of the works and that we would be back on the 27/8 to complete the works of which we are sending two teams there to complete the work in one day. We are also sorry you are experiencing leaks into your property but this is not due to the work we have carried out or even started on yet. We have been in contact via email and text message even at 9pm at night and arranged to have our roofer visit the next morning as an emergency visit having to leave other work where customers were expecting us. Our full invoice was sent over to you as we had to order and pay for the expensive integra Velux window but as per the email to you on the 24/6 we agreed that we would not expect payment for the original work or additional works until the job was completed in its entirety. Regarding the ‘extra for bringing work forward while waiting for delayed Velux window’ this was not actually true; we were asked to return to the property to do work which was not originally quoted for therefore I advised you if we were to return there would be an extra call out for this visit as it would not be to do the scope of works on the specification originally supplied and accepted. We have been in constant contact with you ever since the job was accepted and have tried to do everything we can to help and continue to do so, I am only sorry that you do not feel this is enough for you but we continue to be here for you until our works are complete."

    "I called in Chris Ball & Son to replace a flat roof in a dormer window which was causing leaks into my flat. They responded very quickly and sent round someone for an inspection the next day, with the quote following soon after. Very happy with the result all round and the reasonable and clear pricing. I very much appreciated the good communication and flexibility on their part, particularly as access to the roof was very tricky. They worked very hard to get the work done on time despite pandemic and ‘pingdemic’ related problems and I can heartily recommend both them and their expert work. ."
