17th Edition Compliant

At Trust a trader, we ensure that listed traders adhere to set legal requirements as well standards established by professional bodies to help ensure best practice. The 17th Edition, also known as British Standard (BS) 7671, relates to a set of recommendations released in 2008 and updated in 2015.

The 17th Edition sets the national standard required of all electrical installation and wiring in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. This standard is reviewed and maintained by the Joint IET/ BSI Technical Committee, known as JPEL/63, alongside the UK National Committee for Wiring Regulations. The standards are published by the IET (the Institute of engineering and Technology), a non- government organisation designed to encourage excellence and innovation in the world of engineering.

The 17th Edition is not in itself statutory but it is referenced in many UK statutory documents and, as such, is considered to be legally enforced as the safest standard for all electric wiring.

At Trust a Trader, we ensure that all of our tradesmen are, where appropriate, compliant with the 17th edition, giving our customers peace of mind that their electrician or electric installation service is complying with best practice within their trade.
