TrustATrader member performs great save for Ipswich Town!
TrustATrader member ELC Roofing saved the day for Ipswich Town FC when they needed urgent work done to the roof of their East of England Co-op Stand in order to prevent the cancellation of an FA Cup match against Preston North End.
Suffolk-based ELC got the call on January 3rd, the day before the important game, which would have lost Ipswich Town £30,000 if it had to be cancelled due to the safety risk of a skylight in the roof of the stand moving free of its fixings.
ELC owner Edward Carlo explained: “We got a phone call at 12.30pm on the Friday.
“I was out Bury way and I went over there at about 2.30pm and assessed the situation, got a crane in on Saturday morning and two hours before the game got it sorted.
"They were just about to cancel the game."
Ipswich Town FC featured the story of the last minute rescue in their match-day programme for the QPR game the week after, also thanking Quinto Crane Hire who supplied the crane at short notice.
Ipswich Town’s stadium manager, Greg Pillinger said: “Our thanks go to all the staff at both Quinto Crane Hire and ELC Roofing for going beyond the call of duty to ensure our game went ahead.”
As a thank you, Ipswich Town gave Mr Carlo of ELC an executive box for eight at the QPR match, which unfortunately Ipswich lost 3-1. It seems not every match can be saved, but still a great bonus for a job well done!
