Remapping At Ramp It Up
Do you want more power or economy from your car? It’s worth considering a remap with Ramp It Up. A remap alters how your engine works in order to improve Your BHP, Torque & Fuel economy.
Remaps are made possible by reprogramming your car’s engine control unit (ECU). This controls the ignition timing, air/fuel mixture and (on turbo cars) boost pressure.
At Ramp It Up we can re-program your car’s ECU to change how it controls the engine. This is done by plugging into your OBD2 port then we download your current map, modify it and re install. On certain cars we will have to remove the ECU to carry out some more in-depth work.
The gains can be impressive. On most Turbo cars we see a 30% increase in BHP & torque. On naturally aspirated cars a 10% gain is normally seen. But it’s not all about the BHP & torque gains as a remap will remove flat spots in your rev range and can improve your fuel economy.
Some people are concerned that remapping could cause problems with the car. A stage one map would not affect reliability if you use a reputable company such as Ramp It Up. All of our maps are from Avon Tuning that have tens of years of experience so you can rest a shored at you are only getting the best.
Nearly all engines are built to offer more power than the manufacturers program the ECU to allow this is so they can keep using the same engine on multiple models by limiting performance on the earlier models and then increasing the performance with each new edition for example the BMW Mini One and Mini Cooper 1.6 are the same engine but a 26bhp difference. The same can be found in nearly all car manufactures.
