Trust A Trader is an easy to use online directory, created to protect tradespeople and customers alike. We check each trader registered in our directory to ensure that they have the relevant qualifications, affiliations and insurance to do the work that they offer. In some cases, traders are CRB checked, a process which, for some jobs, is required by law.

CRB certification (Criminal Records Bureau) demonstrates that the bearer has no relevant criminal record that could put the customer at risk. There are three types of CRB checks: Standard, Enhanced, and Enhanced with list checks. These check different levels of an individual’s records, and the level of CRB certification required depends on the role being applied for. In most cases, traders will be CRB checked at the standard level. The CRB certified scheme is now known as the DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) and, where previously members would be CRB checked, they are now DBS checked.
